Today we visited the National Museum and saw traditional and more modern Ethiopian historical artifacts and art. Saw the throne of the former leader of Ethiopia Haile Sellassie. The Rastafari also call Selassie HIM, Jah and Jah Rastafari.
You can read more on here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haile_Selassie_I_of_Ethiopia
. Later we will visit the largest market in Africa...
Arrived in Addis yesterday mid day after a marathon two day multi-flight journey. My tour company met me at the airport and took me to the Ghion Hotel, a walled compound in the city with beautiful gardens. Somewhat outdated but still quite comfortable. Slept and read for most of the day and then went to the traditional hotel restaurant for a traditional meal which was served in a woven basket table on a large platter...injera and stewed meats and vegetables eaten with your hands. The waitress came by with water and a bowl before and after the meal so I could wash my hands. I ate to the sounds of traditional Ethiopian music ( I think...since I'm no expert!) and then went back to sleep.
