Arrived in Paris on the 15th and spent quite a bit of the day in the CDG airport waiting for my mother to arrive from London.  Traveled via tram over to Terminal 2 and when I got to B the entire area was cordoned off by police.  I thought to myself, this is not good!  Asked a policeman if he spoke english and he snapped back "No, do you speak French".  Now, I thought that to be a rather obvious question....what an asshole.  Anyway, after hearing a loud explosion (they blew up the offending bag) they removed the security tape and let us in.  Ironic that it took coming back to Europe for me to have a terrorism scare after traveling all throughout the Middle East with no problems.

We are staying at the Hotel Castex near the Bastille in Le Marais District of Paris.  Lovely boutique hotel...not to sad to say goodbye to the shared bathroom and snoring foreigners of the dorm rooms in the hostels!  We took the Metro over to the Trocadero and then walked under the Eiffel Tower trying not to run into the hordes of people waiting in all the lines.  Quite like Disneyland.  We quickly moved on and decided to walk along the Seine for a bit then take the RER C to the Musee d Orsay where we spend the rest of the afternoon.   We watched the sites back at the Bastille at an outdoor cafe where our pithy French waiter kept us on our toes throughout dinner with his cute remarks and smile.  A couple of glasses of wine later and we made our way back to our hotel for some shuteye.
