The land of Laurence of Arabia!

We had a jeep tour when we arrived in Wadi Rum and skidded around the sand dunes and went to all of the 'it' places for pictures. The culmination of the ride being a huge increase in the speed of our jeeps and what looked like a sand dune cliff up ahead. Had to actually shut my eyes as we roared off the edge of the dunes and skidded down to the camp. We spent an evening in a Bedouin desert camp sleeping in tents and climbing the cliffs and rock formations of Wadi Rum. Check out Indian Jones and the Last Crusade or Laurence of Arabia to see the magnificent desert landscape of Wadi Rum. It was insane on the scale of the Grand Canyon. The owner of the camp was Mohammad. There are many Mohammed's here I can assure you! Anyway, he was quite a character running around in his full length white loose shirt dress (please excuse the description!) red head scarf with two black things around his head to keep the scarf on, opaque black sunglasses, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth on his cell phone! Our leader Ali hinted that he was looking for some additional wives (Islam / local culture allows for up to 4 wives if I haven't already mentioned this before). We were goofing around with him taking pictures and dancing through the evening. Of course, we remembered to secure the doors of our tents so as to not receive any 'unwelcome' visitors late in the evening!
