Arrived back in Bangkok mid-day on the 13th. Shared a cab with two women to the Khoa San Road area. I met up for dinner with one of them, Katrine, that same night and we had a great time eating spicy green curry and watching the sites on the road. The next day I had another fitting for my clothes and then met up with Katrine again and we visited Wat Pho the home of the magnificent Reclining Buddha, Thai Massage School and other beautiful sites. We walked from our hotel area along heavily trafficked streets, next to a large park and then the Grand Palace compound. The Reclining Buddha is a 45 meter long gilded statue of plaster covered brick with large black feet inlaid with mother of pearl. You have to remove your shoes before going inside and you move around the statue in a counter-clockwise direction (the opposite of what we did in Tibet). If you want to check it out more you can go to www.watpho.com and pick on the English flag for the English translation page. The other main chapel housed an intricate sculpture with another smaller gilded Buddha
There was no wait at the Thai Massage School and we both went back to the massage area under many fans and had our massages. Thai massage is performed through clothing and is not a typical relaxing swedish type massage. At times it can be quite painful but the end result is good. I fell asleep during most of it waking up only when the masseuse would ask me to change positions.
Went for another fitting then my friend Babu and I went on a dinner cruise on the river. The views were spectacular, the water was calm and the weather was temperate. We sat on the roof deck and ate dinner and then went downstairs to the 'disco' area and did some dancing to a live covers band.
Today I will just relax and try to catch up on some lost sleep.....

. We sat on the carpet and relaxed taking in the sights. Two monks came in and prayed and then one of the monks took out a digital camera and snapped a picture. The appeal of capturing a memory obviously not lost on the monks! There was no wait at the Thai Massage School and we both went back to the massage area under many fans and had our massages.
