Suksma
Suksman is the local Balinese greeting like Namaste is in Nepal according to my guide Nyoman. Arrived in Denpasar, Bali yesterday evening after a full 12 hour travel day: Shanghai to Singapore to Jakarta to Denpasar (Bali). Quite uneventful just long. I'm sitting in an internet cafe near my hotel watching a lizard run down a window mullion. I'm staying at the Cendana Resort and spa (Thanks Geoffrey!) Love it, so peaceful and full of flowers and two pools with views of the surrounding rice paddies. Met with my guide, Nyoman, this morning (Thanks Eric!) and we made plans for three days of sightseeing all over the island. Have 'rest' days in between to just enjoy Ubud and the resort. The weather is hot but breezy...very tolerable. The pace is slow and the people are gracious and gentle. Bali is primarily Hindu although I am going to see the one Buddhist Temple I found on the map in my guide book. The rest of Indonesia appears to be primarily Muslim. In the Jarkarta airport, there were prayer rooms nears the toilets. The mats were arranged facing mecca it appeared. Unlike Bahrain, the room did not seem to be sex segregated...perhaps this means, only men can pray there?
Many foreign tourists in Ubud at first glance as well as at my hotel. Met some nice girls this morning traveling from Germany. well off to explore more of the town....

Hmm..
Well, unlike other moslem country in the world, womens are equally respected in Indonesia.. The prayer room actually for both man and women. We are quite different with moslems in the middle east.
Thanks
Thanks for the insight!
