The conference ended on the 22nd. It was great and I'll write more about it when I find inexpensive internet access...the hotel is expensive and I tried to find a place listed in the Rough Guide last night and it didn't exist. Anyway, I'm off this morning to try this super inexpensive but apparently amazing spa for massage and mani/pedi...

I decided to stay in the Jin Jiang Hotel. It's located in what I imagine was a foreign nationals compound back in the early part of the 20th century. It's nice but not as over the top as the Four Seasons. Since it is Chinese owned, it has more of a local flavor. There is also regular news and movie channels such as CNN and BBC and HBO & Cinemax. My experience in the hotels in Tibet was that you didn't have access to non-chinese controlled television.

The weather continues to be hazy but less humid. I spent the morning with Chris and Amey yesterday before they left and we had a beautiful cool partially cloudy day. We walked around a local chinese shopping area and bought some things for friends and family back home. I was sad to see them and many of the people I had met at the conference leave. Time to transition again to solo traveling! Will probably walk around today and/or go out this evening and explore some sights.
