As the saying goes, the more things change the more they stay the same. I'm sitting here with Mallory watching the Emmys just like we used to do when we were roomies years ago in the Bay Area. Not only has the weather remained cool, storms have moved in covering the city with grey skies and rain. It's a glimpse of Fall at the end of Summer.

I spent the majority of the afternoon at this athletic facility on the Hudson River called Chelsea Piers. It's a collection of renovated pier buildings containing an entire gym, spa, putting range, ice skating rink among other things. The pool and the jacuzzi (where I spent most of time today) have got a great view of the river and New Jersey. On sunny days, the sun deck is filled with sunbathers but today only puddles of water graced the chairs.

On Friday night Mallory and I went to an outdoor concert at City Hall Park. The first artist was an up and comer called Algebra. She definitely needed work...the next act was Lyfe Jennings www.2lyfe.com. He opened with "Dear Mama" by Tupac Shakur which got the audience going and then went into some of his own work. The headliner for the concert was Teena Marie but unfortunately, we had to leave before she came on so that we wouldn't be late for dinner with Mallory's friends on the Upper West Side. We had a delicious dinner and invigorating conversation debating the state of the world and other similarly complicated matters.
