Where I stayed
...along the river
It was a 2 night, 3 days rafting, camping trip...2 rafts and one cargo raft and some safety kayaks.. Only the one full day is full of rafting, the other days were only a couple of hours rafting as it took us a few hours drive either way. It was a blast though. The rapids were flowing fast and strong...i ended up with 'team israel' as all my other peeps on my boat were from Israel. They were lovely and good fun...all the peeps were which made the trip that much better. It didn't take me long to fall oot of the boat...i was sitting at the front, the most happening place and it proved to be true
We camped along the side of the river...there are lovely random beaches sporadically along the river with grey sand. We were surronded by high cliffs and were really low down comparatively. So it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, with our campsite, with no one around as it would seem but not so in Nepal. There was a tiny path behind us (there are tiny paths everywhere, their ways to get around) that went along the river and that is a major way to many locals as we saw quite a few walking along going somewhere, no idea where, i would guess home or work (as a couple of men were carrying briefcases and dressed all nice) ...but there really seemed to be nothing around, it was bizarre. This is normal to them i always think - to walk a few hours a day either way (what we would call hiking) to go on with their everyday lives. What a beautiful and peaceful commute to work.
As we rafted the scenery was grand, high mountains, high rolling green hills, very high swaying wooden bridges crossing the river every now and then...men taking their donkeys across, kids walking and waving
My rafting trip was a success, i was happy....good descision. It was much better than i expected and better than the Oh Canada rapids i know. I'll have to check oot the western Canadian rapids though before i speak too loud.
