Kodaikanal is 2100m above sea level.  The 3 1/2 hr bus journey was pretty stunning especially as we got higher, the road got curvier, and the view of the Western Ghats, the mountains, and the plains below became clear.

It's a small hillstation with many villages in the area and has a much cooler climate, 20 degrees maybe (thank you very much) to enjoy.  It's surrounded by wooded slopes of evergreens, waterfalls, rocky outcrops.  And my room's view wasn't much less than that, more actually.  It was on the edge of a slope and provided spectacular views of the neighbouring mountains and towns way, way below.  Alot of the time clouds rolled in so the view was hindered but still can't beat being amidst clouds, like literally being on cloud nine pret-near (but wasn't quite feeling that unfortuantely).  And who said India couldn't be quiet?  I was a wee stroll from town so far enough away to hear nothing...just a few chipmunks scurring around perhaps and oh yes the mouse who was in my room the first night (didn't really enjoy that, so moved from the very basic room, so no animals were included).  Another grand place  to sleep and sit in peace...i never would have imagined to find such peace in India.  I wasn't particularly feeling peaceful myself as that happens with traveling, with life..i was feeling quite down and lonely which did hinder my experience somewhat but while trying make the most of it at the same time and to get over myself.  I somewhat succeeded my second day there.  There are quite a few trekking trails and i just did my own wandering through some forests, villages, trails, and took pictures and was just being by myself.

I found a wee tea cart in town that served the best tea, Masala (Chai) tea and also honey, lemon, ginger tea...mmmm.  That was enough of a nightcap for me as i would walk back to the tranquility of my abode trying to find as much peace in my mind as i could  feel ootside, trying to make the very most of the rare tranquil atmosphere in India that surrounds me.
