I had a long bus journey today, aboot 9 hrs, to get to Nelson. It is just a stopover for me for the night as i have another day of traveling tomorrow.
The bus ride wasn't too painful as we stopped for an hour in Greymouth. I checked that town oot and was able to find two local photographty galleries by accdient so that made the hour very enjoyable for me. Then we also stopped in Punakaiki for lunch, which is not even a village, if you blinked you missed it but rather more of a tourist site and scenery. It has fine coastal scenery and it is best known for the wondrous 'Pancake Rocks' and their accompanying blowholes. So i was able to take the 20 min walk along the coast on our break and get a glimpse. It was raining however, so the view wasn't the most flattering but i was still happy to at least get an idea. It was also nice to see along the west coast and what it had on offer, endless beaches and farmland with many sheep.. there were still many mountains in the backdrop which seemed to be neverending (think they have ended now though).
Another lovely drive. The last half of the bus journey was staightforward, however, with no major stops..and here i am in Nelson, only to see it in th dark. Leaving tomorrow morning...
