Day one i just wandered by myself. I made my way to the water where there are an array of different harbours. I found myself in Darling harbour to start which is quite touristy but very pleasant and picturesque. This is where i spent most of the day, just taking in the sights such as the Maritime museum, the aquarium...which i usually don't bother with but was well worth it with a grand display of sharks, dugong, sting rays, plethora of fish and what not...all in a huge walk-in aquarium, so that itself took 2 hrs
Then Emma luv arrived that evening and we had two glorious days that just flew by. First day, we grabbed the bus to Coogee, a suburb, for the popular walk to the famous Bondi Beach. It was a 2 hr walk along the coast with huge, dramatic cliffs, beaches, and a big cemetry bizarrely enough as well along the way. It was a gorgeous day and walkl...no beachbumming weather but sunshining nonetheless, and a few degrees warmer than im used to. Then of course at the end we stopped at the pub, a legion actually with a view to die for. Then back to the city for dinner and some more drinks.
Then today, we grabbed breakfast harbourside....we went for a walk along the harbour to the botanic gardens, which stratches all along the harbour and back, with plenty of space to sit and chill and take in the view. Then we grabbed the ferry to Manly, another suburb. It's known for its surfing beach and slower pace. The 30 min ferry ride is grand though as you get a great view of the harbour and the opera house. Then before we knew it, it was time to get back to the hostel as the weekend had disappearred and emma had a flight to get to....not before squeezing in a few beers back at Darling Harbour though.
It was reallly lovely having Emma here, allowing me to ease into my traveling and being alone and all that jazz that comes with the territory. So here i am now...alone and feeling it a wee bit but still looking forward to what tomorrow brings..because nobody ever knows.
