The cops were notified that i was indeed NOT the person they thought i was and had NO DUI..but i still needed a breath analaysis, not sure why. I waited a while and then went into this special room, was read my rights and was told anything i said would used in the court of law. I then blew 0.00...hahaha!! And that test is the official test and the most accurate. They never mentioned my 'illegal' licence again and dropped me back off at my wagon and apologized for the confusion. I got an email a few days later from the Sergeant saying that a Canadian licence (or any valid foreign licence) is indeed fully legitimate and valid and i have the rights of any other citizen and can drive with 0.05 alcohol in my system. Haha again! Maybe they should check their books before booking someone with nothing to book for...discrimination i say! haha! I disgress...
I was driving home from work as usual, was driving a guy home from work as i quite often do. We were pret-near as his doorstep when the police lights were all of a sudden flashing behind me. I pulled over. It was a ramdom breathalizer apparently. No problem! This is my third time being pulled over for that very reason in Launceston (obvoiusly there is not a lot to do here). I blew...well below the 0.05, as i had notified the cop (one of three)i had just had one beer at work. They notified me my Canadian licence was not legitimate, i needed a international licence (bollocks). They also told me quite sternly that i had a previous DUI on the 'mainland' (what tassies call big australia) in December. I do not! But apparerntly they knew better than I. I was then informed that i had to be taken in for interrogation and questioning and a breath analysis (for blowing 0.015 on a canadian licence). I got into the cop car, surprised they didn't handcuff me since i was such a criminal, taken to the cop shop. And i was confused how i ended up there, one minute i was driving home from work, next minute i was accused of 3 accounts and waiting for my interogation.
