Where I stayed
Then went to Old Melbourne Gaol (jail), some place Emma actually had not been. There 135 prisoners were hung between the late 1800's to 1930's i believe. It's obviously now a museum. So it was quite gruesome and dank...with all the different stories of different prisoners. The most famous being Ned Kelly of course! Do you know Ned Kelly? If you do then no explanation is necessary and if not i'm still not gonna bother to explain his story, there's plenty of movies and books aboot him. He's sort of a legend here. Emma and I actually rented the most recent movie made aboot him called Ned Kelly of course. The prison obviously made Ned oot to be a horrible and harsh criminal but after the movie, i liked Ned. Okay it might have helped that Heath Ledger played the lead role...
We also found time to strolll through the massive Botanic Gardens with running and walking paths, lovely views of the city, great trees and what not. And some added bonuses which impressed me (again it doesn't take much to impress me)..was a great outdoor cinema in the middle of the park and also plays for kids and shakespeare for adults! Brillant!
A great day in groovy Melbourne.
