The road itself is probably only a few hundred kms and could easily be driven in a day and everyone takes their own pace. My personal tour, as Emma as my lovely tour guide, was 3 days, 2 nights. We stopped in a few cozy seaside towns in the first day, it was all quite busy with it being the school holidays here. They all had lovely beaches and nice waves with quaint cafes...some lovely lookouts
We continued our drive the next day to reach the end of the road in Warrnambool to stay with Emma's friend. We stopped at the world famous (even tho i didn't know aboot them til that day, what makes things world famous?) 12 Apostles, they run all along the coast, i think there's only 6 now though. They are pieces of cliff sides that remain at near the shore of the ocean while the rest of the cliffside have eroded back...leaving these huge pieces of limestone standing erect by themselves near the coast (pictures will explain it better). They were gorgeous. The water is absolutely gorgeous with the blueness and distinct white caps on the waves.
Then once in Warrnambool, we went to Tower Hill Reserve, a conservation area for hikes or just driving spotting wildlife. It's their answer to an african safari..it was great though, as we drove around the park at our own pace and spotted some emus and finally kangaroos! My first sighting of a live kangaroo...yeehaw! So job done...
We went for a few drinks in the bigtime country town, Warrnambool and then drove back to Melbourne the next morning via a more direct route, the highway...
