I was gonna have the luxury of being picked up again at the airport in the wee dawn hrs of the morning...this time in Brisbane! This time planning to actually stay and live in this unfamiliar city for a while! This time having an old friend though to find familiarity with...and to pick me up of course.

I haven't seen Rick in a long time but managed to keep in touch, and haven't spent a lot of time with him in my life but we definitely got along great, and always had a laugh which hasn't changed. I met him in Rome on my very first backpacking trip, about 5 yrs ago, back in the day. We traveled together for aboot 2 weeks maybe, between Italy and Spain...then he came to visit me in t.o. when he was in the 'area' in Saskatoon (yes i know, who goes there) and that was 4 1/2 yrs ago.

So i'm staying with Rick and his two roomies, also his best friends, Jingo and Lorna, they're american and english respectively. It's all worked out fabulously, i get along with all of them just grand. They are the funniest people ever, it's like watching a reallife comedy every night. So that has made the transition from traveling beautiful Asia to 'settlin' in Brisbane definitely's always a struggle to get back to things but of course i'm not complaining as i have no right. But i haven't had much time to overthink things being in this house which is great...just get on with finding a job and flat. I have succeeded in the latter of those, a flat. I found one just down the street coincidentally enough, it's a houseshare. But i don't move til middle of the month..least it's sorted though. And my 'roomies' don't seem to mind that i'll be hanging around for a bit. I have to say it's so nice to come to a city and know people right away and be it people that i actually enjoy. I have spent so much time on my own, it is lovely to have some great company consistently..really appreciating it.

So I have been here a week now and enjoying the comforts of a home, either though it's not mine, still enjoying as i said...and the city. I haven't ventured out too much as im trying to focus on 2 key prioriies, job and flat. Rick has shown me a few diferent parts of the city - the South Bank (where the 'beach' is, haha, its very small and fake but still good), the West End (where there's more trendier shops and bars), CBD (the city centre, shopping)...there's a big river throughout the city which has lovely paths around it and lovely parks. So Im still working on the job front and will play more later...have a few prospects but nothing definite. Hopefully something will fall into place...

Alrighty roo..there's more to come. Hopefully i'll be able to keep ya entertained (and myself for that matter) even amidst the 'normalities' of life...there's a challenge!
