The southern part of Bali is very touristy, even though all of Bali is full of tourists. I usually like to find a quiet place to stay by the beach of course but away from all the hoop-la. That was impossible in the areas of Kuta, Legian, and Seminyak, all along the west coast right after one another...full of big fancy resorts, hotels, tons of shops, restaurants...everywhere! So after realizing that yes indeed i am gonna have to be a part of all this hoop-la, and being very tired driving around, looking at hotels and not sure where i was going..I found a wonderful place, way more fancy than i need or would normally pay for but hey..only more 2 days in Asia why not!

I found Hanneke and I a villa type, with 2 bedrooms, an open kitchen/lounge area, a huge loo with the shower outside (in a nice way) and a huge garden or more like a lovely sanctuary filled with trees all fenced in with tall wooden doors as our gate. Haha..i found it quite amusing, really not necessary but of course lovely. It was 250000 rupiah a night so $25 per night between 2 people, a bargain! I picked Hanneke up from the bus station on my motorbike of couse, as she had just had the long bus ride from Bromo like i did a few days before. It was nice to see a famaliar face and nice to enjoy my last days not on my own...

Hanneke and I basically just ate, drank, chatted, walked along the beach, layed on the beach a bit, drank coconut juice on the beach, talked to some locals along the beach (as there are many selling drinks, jewellry, surf lessons, massages, etc). Just relaxed really and laughed a lot as i bidded farewell to SE Asia. I love Asia! The lifestyle, the calmness and the chaos all mixed together, the people, the landscape, the culture...the beauty. It's been absolutely gorgeous in many ways!

So my last night, Hanneke and I had a late dinner. After we found her a new place to stay and transported our bags (via bike of course) to her hotel, took us a while as we had to take a few trips - 2 of us, 2 big backpacks and 2 small bags just wouldn't all fit at once. We tried to do it Asian style as i'm sure the locals would've had no problem but let's face it but we're just some small-time white girls...haha. I tried to return my bike that night but the shop was already closed so Hanneke would have to do it for me in the morning. It worked out well on my part as i got a lift to the airport, how brillant! A lovely send-off.... It didn't work out as well for Hanneke as she ran out of gas after dropping me off (but apparently really nice people helped her so wasn't that bad) and then when she returned my bike, the guy said i owned more money than what was true but she wasn't sure what was true so after arguing for a while, paid more money than necessary. I felt bad but she seems be ok with it...getting ripped off is just a part of traveling sometimes.

So i'm off..with Australia waiting for me...back to the crazy 'west', the western world! Now it's not in the west, many western countries aren't, so why is it called the western world? Hmmmmmm...anybody? Well anyways i'm going down under, thats for sure...
