Where I stayed
I had two full days of sightseeing, around town and venturing to two prominent temples, both from around 9th century. I had to take a local bus to both, one called Prambanan was about 45mins away..it consisted of 3 different temples, alot of it in ruins due to an earthquake a few years ago. And Borbordur, aboot 1 1/2 bus ride with one huge Buddhist temple (even tho most of the population now is Muslim) and 2 others on different sites which i didn't venture to...all very impressive though. And no debacles with the buses either..lovely
The weather on this side of the equator is lovely..haha...not humid at all, just enough heat and cool at night..lovin it! I met some dutch girls on the train here and a Belgian guy at my hotel in Pangandaran that i keep running into here...so we all went to a free Gamelan festival last night, that's the local javanese music. It was in a theatre..very unusual, mellow and very interesting...lots of xenolophones (how do you spell that?), that musical instrument, some drums, etc. It really good to see...don't think i'll get another chance. We walked back to the hotel up the main street where there was all sorts going on...very very busy, it was saturday night after all. More live music, some local indie rock, some sort of play, food vendors everywhre. It was really wonderfull to see...stopped at a karoke bar for a quick bite to eat where 2 of the dutch girls belted out a tune..haha...really nice to have some enjoyable company. Then time for a bed after a longgg day...
And here i am...a day of relaxation in the garden, reading, travelpodding...tomorrow a long day of traveling but hopefully not as long as it would have been if i went today...so please hold!
