Interesting, to say the least.
I stayed with this guy named Mark, who I had met on one of those traveller exchange websites, www.couchsurfing.com, specifically. We had been talking on the internet for ages and he had pages and pages of positive references from people who had stayed with him, I figured things would be swish.
Well not so much. He had an awesome apartment with a really rad view, we did some really cool stuff... went to the beach, went camping in the Blue Mountains, kayaking under the Harbour Bridge, scuba diving, some rock climbing.. but I didn't have fun doing any of it.
Mark was really, really into me, and I could tell, and it just made me ridiculously uncomfortable. Normally I'd be able to see past it and have fun, but on top of that, he was inconceivably annoying as well. The type of guy who thinks he's hilarious and laughs at his own jokes. He just gave me an overall bad vibe. Well, I decided to move out to a hostel,
and while I didn't hate him yet, I wasn't exactly keen on calling him to hang out like he seemed to want me to. Eventually I couldn't handle him anymore and I just decided to tell him that I didn't want to hang out, but he wouldn't accept that for an answer. Anyway, he never ever hurt me and I never suspected that he would, but he ended up borderline stalking me around Sydney for the three months I was there. But that's a different story, for another day.
