It's been an uneventful last few days..the only thing of interest so far is that I went for my first 3 real bike rides..the first one I went on was Sunday with Julie and James from Kahala to Hanauma Bay..we were supposed to go to Sandy Beach but Julie almost got hit by a car at Hanauma Bay and so she got scared..understandably of course! We biked for 2 hours and after getting off the bike I seriously wondered if I will be able to have children. The second ride was with the group around Kahala, 3 x 4mile loops, and then yesterday I biked myself from Waikiki to Kahala once again..on the way back around Diamond Head I almost killed myself doing a double take at a hot surfer dude packing up his board. Thankfully I didn't overly steer myself into oncoming traffic as I looked back at him...

Last night (Tuesday May 17) we went to Pipeline Cafe for Broke Ass Tuesdays..this is where all the ghetto fabulous people go because it is $1-3 drinks, kind of like Schmooze in the T-dot, but the crowd here was pure hoochies and thugs. If you have more gold bling in your mouth then I have in my jewelry box, please don't talk to me. If you think that your pants hanging down to your ankles is hot, please don't talk to me. If you think that grabbing my ass is a good way to introduce yourself, please don't talk to me. If you act like you're a pimp and you're as ugly as one, please don't talk to me. Ok..I have come to the conclusion that it would be best if I just don't go to that place anymore..problem solved!

Wednesday we went to Casey's for poker and Phuong won the game!! Whoo-hoo, she won $150 (actually b/c it was a $20 buy-in, she made $130)..first woman to win at Casey's table...it was a damn long night because I was the first one out and we didn't leave till 330am which was bad because I had to get up to be at work for 10am Thursday..yup, you read that correctly, I am now employed! I am working at Boca Hawaii, the place where I do my tri-training..I am going to be a jack-of-all-trades and will be doing officey-stuff, retail stuff and I don't know what else..I worked for 5 hours on Thursday fixing up their client database (BORING!) but the owners are cool and flexible with my days/hours..pretty much whenever I want to work (talk about the ideal job! I KNEW that one day I'd find someone that would let me work 10-2!)...as for compensation, I think I'm going to be taking it in the form of working to pay for the next clinic of theirs that I'm going to join (Cycling or another Triathlon group, or both) and perhaps also get clothes and cash..not sure yet how that's going to work..please don't report me to the government, I've already paid way too much in taxes!! I must say that I wasn't sure what to wear to my first day of work so I went in a golf shirt and khaki shorts and straw-type sandals..well let me tell you I was way over-dressed and tshirts, tank tops and bummy shorts and flipflops will suffice..whoo hoo!

Chi, Phuong's sister, arrived on Thursday afternoon so the girls took her to the beach and they went on a catamaran boat ride (not fair, I'm working and they're sailing!!!). We ended up going to Mai Tai bar at night where I fell in love with the hottest dude I've seen on the entire island..alas my problem is I like to admire from afar..while at Mai Tai we met up with Danny and Dave and later Casey and Jimmy joined us for a few drinks. From there, us girls went to Oceans where we met up with Forest, Kelly, Toba and Lloyd..as we all know I'm not that into Asian dudes (okay, who am I kidding, I'm not into them at all) so I didn't overly enjoy myself..I did have a Hispanic army guy come talk to me and he was just so DUMB and boring I wanted to strangle myself..would the night ever end??! Thankfully it did and we went home around 130am to rest up for our busy day Friday.

Friday I woke Casey up at noon and he took us girls kayaking. Such a sweet and thoughtful guy, he came with a flower for each of us to put behind our ears. He gave us a scenic tour of the east side of the island and we ended up at Kailua/Lanikai to kayak. Chi and I paddled around briefly and then Casey, Cat and Phuong paddled out to a little island out in the water which is a bird sanctuary. If I'm not mistaken, they were lucky enough to witness some birds mating, an image that will stay engraved in their minds forever I'm sure. Phuong says one of the birds was really into rough sex and was very quick, not even a minute. I will have to take her word on that. We stayed on the beach till about 6 and us girls thought we were going to go home, shower and go out to eat. Well that shower part never happened..Casey drove by his family home, took a shower outside (yup, they have an outdoor shower) and then we went out for dinner..He was the only one of us that smelt nice! We ended up meeting Mike (aka Hattie, Casey's best friend) at the liqour store and we bought 3 bottles of wine and ended up at The Olive Tree, a Greek restaurant which is BYOB. I don't know if it's the guys here in Hawaii, but we have never met guys that eat as slow as Casey and Hattie..unlike us city girls, it was all about sitting and eating and drinking slowly, enjoying a leisurely meal. We were at the restaurant for 3 hours, I felt like I was at Auberge or Bymark for Winterlicious! Greek food never takes that long to eat, but it was so nice to just sit and enjoy the company, so from now on, I am going to make a serious effort to relax, chill out and savour the moments..After dinner we went for ice cream and mochi (a Japanese dessert made of tapioca which encases ice cream) and even though we were stuffed, we still managed to eat our dessert which was YUMMY! It was a long but fantastic day (we ended up at home at 1130pm and I was thinking I still could go out and party that night, but old age is catching up..) and if anyone ever wants an awesome tour guide (who is easy on the eyes!) Casey is the man..

Saturday I rode the Tinman course, 40km! Surprisingly it wasn't hard at all, the hard part was running the 10km that came after the bike..I know it's mostly mental and your legs will just move, but I now have pains in my knees and shin splints on my right leg so I'm not sure what I'm going to do if it keeps hurting..I hope I'll be okay, actually I'd better be okay b/c I have my first race on the North Shore on May 28th..I came home after practice and as usual k.o'd while Phuong took Chi shopping for souvenirs at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium. They came back around 3 and the four of us ended up going to catch a few rays at Waikiki beach (fyi, I haven't seen the hot lifeguard in awhile..is he hiding???)..We ended up going to the W (a club in the W hotel)..there was a special 'guest' dj, some dude from the beat junkies (http://www.beatjunkies.com/) which resulted in higher cover and a long-ass lineup..We spotted one hot guy at the W..he was whoo-hoo hot and something reminded me of the Rock, probably cuz he was huge..anyhow I did admire from afar but damnit he left early! Mental note to self, got to start moving faster

Today, Sunday May 22nd, is Chi's last day. We decided to go to North Shore and woke up at 930am, a difficult task as we didn't go to bed until after 4am, but c'est la vie..we headed out around 1130am and I drove our tired butts North...unfortunately it started to get cloudy and overcast and by the time we got to the Dole Plantation it was raining..a little rain didn't stop us from getting out and eating very yummy pineapple ice cream! We kept driving and ended up at Waimea Bay beach but didn't stay there because it wasn't sunny enough..we decided to circle the island in search of a sunny beach. We stopped at a fruit stand and bought pork sticks, boud-boud (spelling??! Filipino dish, sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf), pineapple, papayas, mangos, bananas and some other food to munch on..as we trekked on, we came upon a shrimp truck and we had plate of fresh jumbo shrimp which was oh so ono (good)..As we came around down the east side of the island we came upon a breathtaking view of the mountains with the clouds hanging so low over them that it felt like you could reach your hand up and touch them. I have never seen anything that stunning and am disappointed the pictures we took do not do it justice..it was so pretty that it looked fake, or like a painting...I've learned that even overcast days can be beautiful if you just look around. We ended up hanging out at Sandy's so Chi could get some rays and the 3 of us passed out on the beach while Chi walked around. Finally we headed home..I must make a note that for someone who hates to be in a car for more then 2 hours (that would be me) I'm stunned that I drove for almost 5 hours..I guess the scenery was enough to distract me from the time spent in the car.

On to a frightening episode...last night (Sun May 22nd) I was sitting here at the computer updating my log and downloading some pics when out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement. OH MY GOD. It was a cockroach the size of a cat...ok, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, it was the size of a bird, or at least I thought it could've been a bird because the damn thing had wings and flew..(I'm getting shivers typing this because I am not fond of anything that's not human or dog..). Under normal circumstances I would've screamed but I was so scared and/or in shock that I couldn't speak. I watched it scuttle around near the ceiling by the bed and I backed out of the room when I saw it fly to another corner..I walked very slowly lest it see me and attack...I went to the kitchen and Chi, Phuong and Cat could see by my face something was wrong..so after some prodding I told them there was a gi-normous (oh yes, I'm making up my own words now) cockroach in the room and someone had to kill it. Chi handled it like a pro and killed it fairly quickly although it tried to run away (ewwww..I'm getting the heebie-jeebies writing this)..so I am trying to enforce the rule of always closing the screen doors (every single one had been left open all day yesterday). We've been pretty diligent about keeping food closed and in the fridge and throwing the garbage out everyday so this roach experience had better be our last!

And to end on a nice note..I saw/spoke to my dad, bro Mike and nephew Rylan via MSN/webcam and it was nice to see their faces because I miss them! I was a bit taken aback to see how pale they are since I'm so used to seeing tanned skin now, so when I said to my dad and nephew that they were so pale and white, Rylan said: "Tita Tracy, I'm not Snow White, I'm a boy!" He's so cute!
