Unfortunate Events

The typically laid back atmosphere of Dahab has been replaced with a slightly somber eerieness. First and foremost, because of the attacks that took place today throughout London. As you can imagine, there are large numbers of British tourists here in addition to ex-pats that now call Dahab home. Tota has been packed all day long with people crowding around to catch a glimpse of the news. It's really like dejavu all over again, though on a slightly smaller scale. I was immediately taken back to being woken in the early morning hours and staying glued to the television as the horrific events 9/11 appeared on the screen. There's definitely that feeling of being able to relate to what everyone must be going through over there.
Additionally, it was announced today that Egypt's top envoy to Iraq has been executed by Al-Qaeda forces. Mr. Ihab Al Sherif was kidnapped last Saturday in Iraq as the trend has begun recently to further punish anyone involved in the rebuilding of Iraq, including fellow Arab/Muslim countries. So the news that he has been killed has hit home for Egyptians here in Dahab.
Aside from the terrible news that seems to plague our world today, I hope that everyone is well.
