This morning we boarded the 4am hydrofoil ferry to cross the Red Sea to Sharm El-Sheik. I was expecting this little dinky ferry and instead found a massive and very modern
cruise-like ship. It was a 90 minute ride over which I slept entirely through. We arrived in Sharm, yet another resort and dive spot. It has actually been the sight for many of the negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians. From there, a 2 hour drive to where I am now...Dahab.

We are right on the Red Sea! I can walk to the water in less than a minute from our hotel (The New Sphinx). Dahab is still highly underdeveloped in comparison to ritzy
Hurghada--really just an old school hippie hangout..although it is growing up slowly but surely and will one day equal the big resort towns. It's amazing to have these massive mountains in the background on one side and the Red Sea on the other---and we can see the coast of Saudi Arabia very clearly!! The plan is to stay here I think for three days or so. This afternoon some of us are planning to go 4 wheeling in the desert and
hopefully tomorrow some snorkeling at the Blue Hole. It's sunny but quite windy here--but the water is a nice 25 celsius year round. I plan to just relax as much as possible before we move on to Mount Sinai in few days and then back to Cairo--where the word is it is raining and miserable :( So hopefully that'll pass before I get back there. I'm in the home stretch and in my last week of my trip...so there should be more stories to come yet.
I hope all is well with everyone!
