The drive included a few fun things such as a stop off at a BBQ place that looked like a barn and had knick knacks everywhere, perusing a mini cigar shop in a gas station, watching a shooting star, driving past a few fun signs (pics to be added later), and listening to an audio book about poverty and economics
We finally cruised into Austin around 8:30pm. The first thing we noticed is that people were everywhere. While walking around it dawned on us that this week is the week of South by Southwest (film making, technology, and music festival). There was definitely a festive atmosphere and everything had a wait. We finally found a restaurant to split a drink and appetizer while watching a soccer match. Later we walked back to the area with most of the bars and just people watched for a bit. There was a huge diversity of ages, styles, and attitudes. My favorite was a couple of drunk guys who were trying to bum some money for a beer and wanted to trade jokes. One guy even played us a private concert.
We eventually made it to our expected campsite and found it full for the evening, so we just started driving toward San Antonio and tonight we are staying near New Braunfels, TX. Now off to sleep for me.
