An overnight bus took us from the city of Fortaleza to the small fishing village of Pria de Pipa. The village had a tranquil charm with the sophistication of some beautiful shops and restaurants, another Brazillian gem that I fear one day may be spoilt by over comercialism. The village consisted of a few cobbled streets leading down to a beautiful beach, as luck would have it we arrived in the middle of their gastronomy festival!
Our posada was great, jen and I shared a room with a balcony overlooking the pool (not our usual accommodation but our guide Lenin had budgeted well so we could stay there). As we sat taking in the sunset with a bottle of red wine we were visited my Marmosettes (little monkeys that my spell checker will have real problems with!) and one of them tried to rip my bracelet from my arm as it thought it contained a particularly tasty nut.
The next day three of us took a boat trip along the coast to Dolphin Bay where we were able to watch the dolphins and swim in the sea
That evening Jen and I invited the others to our balcony for wine and music before we went out for the night, as you can see from the photo Mr Tingle has picked up a few bad habits already! Later on we were filmed for the gastronomy festival singing the praises of the glorious food we had eaten, I never thought that ´roughing it´with a backpack around South America could be so tough!!

01 Little Fury Friends on our Balcony
. There were only 6 of us on the trip and our guide and captain looked after us well, we stopped on a sandbar in the middle of the lagoon and were given cocktails or beer, then onto a river where the ´captain´prepared an amazing meal, fresh from the sea of Oysters, Shrimps, Muscles, fish and fresh salad - it has the reputation of being some of the best food in Brazil, we lay on the deck, drinking beer throwing oyster shells to the greedy catfish that had surrounded our boat - how decadent! That evening Jen and I invited the others to our balcony for wine and music before we went out for the night, as you can see from the photo Mr Tingle has picked up a few bad habits already!
