Hello everyone,

How are you all? We're ok, although Andy has been really poorly with what we think was some kind of stomach flu which is doing the rounds here, and was off work last Weds-Fri, much better now but still not 100%, and was in bed for 3 days, even stayed in on Friday night!!

Last Weds I went to a women's networking event with the Viva group, it was their Christmas party, so they invited the Lolipop bakery to attend who have a branch in Beijing & recently opened in Shanghai too, to show us all how to decorate cup cakes!! Our entry fee included 4 cupcakes & 2 glasses of wine, perfect!! We were in teams of 4 or 5 people, and our team won 2nd prize for our decorating skills! It was a 50 pounds voucher for a meal in a restaurant, so the 4 of us are going to enjoy that sometime in January.

Thursday night a few of us went down to Californian grapes for free wine, a friend ordered in some pizza's, the biggest I have ever seen..... so a good evening was had. We all wore Santa hats too to get into the festive spirit! It's amazing how many Christmas decorations & trees we've seen everywhere, a few people have said there is more here than previous years, which is nice.

After abandoning Andy for 2 nights, he was feeling a bit brighter & managed to get out of bed, so Friday night we had a cosy night in & watched Lord of the Rings, missing 2 parties we were planning on going to! To be honest, it was so cold outside I was happy to stay in too.

Saturday, we wandered into town to get a few winter upgrades, thicker scarves, thicker gloves, thermal socks etc. as it's got that much colder we really need more than we brought with us. Happy with our purchases, we had a bit of lunch, and a mulled wine. Our friend Gina had invited us around for dinner on Saturday evening, and she cooked a lovely Christmas dinner of roast turkey, mash potato, spinach & pine nuts, sprouts & chestnuts, pigs in blankets.... yum yum... soup to start, panetone, chocolates & a cheese board to finish. And of course, plenty of red wine. There were 10 of us & a really nice group of people, with her apartment all decorated for Christmas & a lovely tree, it felt very homely. Fab views too, she lives down the road from us & is on the 18th floor, apparantley great views for Chinese New Year with all the fireworks.

Sunday we had a wander to a school Christmas Fayre, which was much smaller & chaotic than the one we did, so we were glad we had a good one. In the afternoon, there was a wine tasting at a restaurant near us, 5 quid for 50 different wines on offer - very nice.

In the evening, we'd been invited to a soft opening of a new Argentinian restaurant - so we went along to that, a very nice evening with free flow wine, food, and a prize draw where Andy won a bottle of white wine, which I'll enjoy very much as he doesn't drink white!!!  ;)

Capital Club this morning for me for the last British Club meeting of the year, and a Christmas Quiz. Good fun, and I ended up being the quiz master, with a powerpoint - felt like I was a trainer again!! Came back to the office, just in time for our Christmas lunch, not a traditional one but a great feast at a Thai restaurant, fab food & some wine. Needless to say we've been a bit sleepy in the office this afternoon!!

A quiet evening in for me, bowling for Andy - 2nd in the league now which is great.

Another Christmas card has arrived - thank you Mum & Dad. A good natter with them on Friday too, as well as Ian last night.

Still not sure what we'll do Christmas day yet, but we've decided against going to Harbin for the New Year and are going to stay here instead and party!

Missing everyone, let us know how you all are.

Tracy & Andy

Hope you enjoyed your relaxing Sunday! Sounds like you're all prepared for Christmas. Sorry to have missed the choir, they are always so good. Hope it was a good evening at Laura & Tom's too. Oh how next Christmas will be very different with 2 little extra's!!! Very exciting!
Thank you for your card, it came yesterday - means so much more getting lovely cards when we're so far away from home, so we appreciate it.
Got snow at the moment, from the end of last week, don't think it will ever melt though as it's constantly so cold!! Some due again on Thursday, and -17 overnight at the weekend...... brrrrr!!
