Another week gone by in a flash & it's now been 6 weeks since we've been here.
A busy week at work - been searching for names on the internet, and gathering lists of names, addresses, e-mail, telephone numbers & started sending out mailshots, brochures & a letter to follow up with our first phone calls next week to try & get some first appointments. Our target is 50 names & mailshots a week, so we're doing 10 a day.
Didn't have such a good experience at my Mandarin lesson on Weds, I stayed behind afterwards to chat to the tutor & tell him that I was struggling & finding it difficult, he just said 'relax, don't worry, yes it is difficult, see you Friday'. Huh...... no offer of help or support, so guess what - I didn't go back for the last one on Friday! Really wasn't getting anything out of it, so going to learn survival words & phrases ourselves, we have loads of CD's & books people have given us plus what we brought out with us, and then once work has settled down we'll look at getting a private tutor which I think will be better.
Andy was poorly on Weds so worked from home, which is great that we have the option to do that. I fell over, and no - no alcohol was involved, we were just going to the shop, I dashed back into the apartment to pick up a bag, Andy was at the lift which just arrived on our floor so called out, (you can see that I'm blaming him can't you!!), I ran a little around the corner in my flip flops on a slippery floor and lost footing, falling flat on my side with a bang in front of the lift door. Now, you know what it's like, someone hurts themselves, you just want to laugh....... yep, Mr Perry did, Mrs Perry was not amused! Luckily I ached for a day or two after but no bruises.
Went wine tasting at the Capital Club on Thursday night & had some lovely French wines, not usually my favourite but they were good, some finger food & they just seemed to keep topping up our glasses! Met some good people again, as well as some young interns from various countries that had come with their boss, so it was interesting hearing their stories too. Whilst we were up on the 50th floor, it started thundering, lightening & pouring with rain, a weird experience.
Last night had a couple of drinks at the local Irish bar, Paddy's. We got engrossed in the tennis, wow Andy Murray what a result! We watched it until about midnight our time, and logged on this morning to find the results, needless to say we'll be back in Paddy's watching the British Grand Prix (can't believe last year we were there!) and watching the tennis too. They are going to show both on the many screens they have there.
Chilled out morning, gonna head out in a mo for a wander, then going bowling toinght with the Internations group we've joined, so that will be good fun. Tomorrow is Sunday brunch with the same group at a hotel, looking forward to that too.
Had a few e-mails recently, so thank you - and I will reply but have a few to send at the mo, lovely hearing from everyone.
We have a VPN now so that we can get FB, but it's weird - got used to not having it & kind of don't want to get back into it, looked at it a bit this morning but it makes me miss everyone really, and it also shows that life just carries on without you! Strange feeling........ it was nice seeing some wedding photo's of friends that have got married recently. So will be checking in from time to time, but leaving FB Queen status up to Mrs Hiney!!!!!
Hope you're all ok.
