We got up at 9am, in work just after 10am so a nice leisurely start!

Busy busy busy contacting people we met last night to say hi which has been good.

Had to pop out at lunchtime to go & pick up our passports & Visa's, so that's us sorted until 19th Sept now which is good. Joy from the office came with us too as we had to register at the local police station again afterwards. We also needed some help from her in communicating with the local tailor & shoe mender (once we found them!!).

They are both only a few mins walk out of our compound, Andy bought 2 pairs of trousers from the markets (he'll kill me for saying that - I should just lie & say they were from Ted Baker or somewhere like that......!) and they needed tailoring. Our office days when we're not out & about seeing clients are fairly casual dress, so he needed some more trousers as had brought mainly suits.

The hem had come down on one of my dresses & a pair of trousers (despite sewing them the other day, yes I'm rubbish & make a rubbish wife).

All sorted, it will all be ready tomorrow, grand total of 50 kuai = 5, bargain. Got my shoes re-heeled next door 20 kuai = 2. Bargain.

Home now relaxing, had some pasta for tea / dinner & about to catch up on some episodes of Touch.

Mandarin lesson again in the morning, then 2 - yes 2 networking events tomorrow night...... early one for the Australian Chamber, informal drinks at a rooftop terrace bar, then another Internations event quite close to where we live.

Great that Andy spoke to Dad last night on Skype (sorry Dad but I was fast asleep after a few glasses of vino!!) and Lou, thank you for your lovely message today too, fab to hear from you & definitely speak at the weekend.

Mr Feather - thank you for your comments too ;)

Bye all,

P.s My Trousers are not like you woould get from a UK market and are far better quality than Primark... That hurt just typing it in here. Tracy is quietly dying in the corner now lol....

Hey guys - been catching up on your posts tonight, fab!! Sounds like you're getting to grips with things now (particularly shopping :)

I rather randomly went to see Will Young the other night (one of my Take That friends is also a massive fan of Will and her mate that she was going with dropped out so she asked me - it was actually really good!).

It's Ian and Liz's garden do again this weekend, do you remember when you came before? Hope the weather's nice. It was actually really hot today for a change.

Keep forgetting to ring in the day, then I remember in the evening when you will be in bed because of the time difference!

Will try to remember over the weekend - have a good one!

Hi You Two,
Look at all that stuff you've been getting up to whilst I've not been looking! I really (REALLY!) don't know how you've got the energy to do so much - I'd be thinking I just couldn't face yet another social event where I have to be nice to all those people - and yet you seem to breeze through it all with such ease and grace - I totally take my hat off to your stamina!
It has been a busy old time in the Roper household this last week - last weekend was a busy cake/decorating making day on Saturday, followed by a lovely long lunch and walk to Bucklers Hard in the afternoon with friends - we even treated ourselves to ice-cream and a trip on the boat. Mind you, my friend and I saw nothing as we were too busy gossiping!
Monday was a school trip to Paultons park (very) thinly disguised as 'educational' as we learned a bit about 'forces' - but actually just an opportunity for year 6 to have some fun at the end of their junior school career. Thankfully, the lad I look after didn't come so I had a day of freedom - the kids begged me to go on The Edge - but they lied when they said it was a "nice, gentle ride" - it most certainly wasn't and they were severely punished afterwards!
Today at school was 60's day which meant we all had to dress-up which has to be my second least favourite thing to do (after The Edge!) but actually it was really good fun, the kids made a great effort and looked fabulous. I even learned some very weird lyrics to 'Lilly the Pink' that we sang during the day .. someone must have been taking some very strong 'stuff' when they wrote that! Got a busy few weeks coming up as it always is at the end of term but at least it makes the time fly by - roll on 20th June and six lovely, long weeks off :o)
As always, I'm delighted you are doing so well out there - it's great to read so much about your 'journey' and to see how well you are getting on.
Speak soon,
Much love
