Morning all, having a nice lazy Sunday morning today.

Got the internet on at home which is FAB!!!!

Friday had to go to a Visa office & re-new our visa as our initial one was for 4 weeks only, they are only re-newing them for 3 month periods at the moment rather than the usual 6 months which is a bit of a pain, but the company are paying for them each time & we collect them tomorrow.

Andy has joined an online networking & social site called Internations, where all nationalities can link up in various countries. on line forums, clubs etc. & it seemed a good site so we went along to one of their parties Friday night where 300+ people were expected. It was at a very nice hotel bar and there were a lot of people. We arrived early so got chatting to a few people, but later it got a bit too busy but we did meet some nice people, another couple of couples that we'll keep in touch with, later it seemed to turn into a bit of a dating arena with some of the locals there meeting ex pats so we left!! There is only so much of the same conversations you can have with people before you're tired 'what brings you here, how long have you been here, where are you from, what do you do' etc etc...!! We headed back to Paddy's bar near us to watch the football. I bailed out at 2am (the England game was 0300 our time) seeing the first match suspended due to rain, Andy stayed the distance & made friends with a really nice English guy, and cheered the team on - what a result!!! Come on England!

Saturday was Andy's Birthday so whilst he was sleeping off the footie, I went out & got bacon sarnies & some sort of cake, a box of chocolates & a dodgy card - they don't seem to 'do' cards at all in China but the ex pat supermarket had some, a nice artists picture of the great wall!

We headed out for a wander, very hot - 38 degrees this weekend....... I desperately needed some beauty attention, fringe cut & an eyebrow wax, heard a few hairdresser horror stories (so Tina & Nicky you're still on stand by to fly over!!!) however 3 people have recommended a good one near to us, so tried it out & it was a fringe & eyebrow success, so I will go back!

Andy met our mate Alister for a birthday beer & I joined them after the hairdressers. The Beijing football team were at home in the evening so the fun was starting already, and we wandered through the crowds & the stalls, really good atmosphere & we were gutted we couldn't get tickets, plenty being sold by touts but unsure how genuine they would have been.

A big fat HUGE birthday pizza at a place called The Tube, just inside the Workers Stadium (where the footie was). You'll see the piccies below but ours was just a medium.......  Another wander through the footie chaos, likening it to Fratton Park ;) & the traffic cops would have had a field day, cars abandoned everywhere!! The main road could have been the Eastern Road really....!!

Back out in the evening for Birthday drinks with Alister & a guy from Canada called Rob who Ali had met earlier in the day, had a great night & rolled in after a few beers, Andy having a drunk Skype conversation with Ian!!!

So Sarah Hobday, hope you also had a lovely Birthday and look forward to all things being well meeting you in Hong Kong next year for your 40th Birthday celebrations & Andy's 45th (I know, he doesn't look old enough!).

Fathers Day today - Andy is hoping to Skype with Chantelle later on, and Roy we wish you a very Happy Fathers day, and Dad - a very happy Fathers Day to you too, and hope you & Mum are enjoying your holiday in Greece.

Playing badminton at 4pm today, meeting a couple of people we've met the last few weeks & playing with a group at a hotel, so we'll see what that's like.

A 4 day week this week as it's a Chinese Bank Holiday on Friday for the Dragon Boat Festival,, so we'll have to see what's going on for that.

Thanks for you comments on here too, it's so nice to hear from you - keep them coming please! The blog is getting so many hits which is great.

Hi to you both. I've been reading all your adventures, I'm really pleased for both of you that its all going so well. We are managing without you at work Tracy but you are missed a lot! The SEO thing finally happened last week and it all went fine, better than we had hoped.
For the first time for a couple of weeks it looks like we are going to have a nice sunny day here today. We've all ended up back in winter clothes as its been so cold and miserable. A bit of your weather here would be nice.
Keep on having fun, the blog is making good reading.
All the best and Happy Birthday to Andy.

Hi you two,
A belated Happy Birthday to Andy - looks like you had a great time with pizza and beer - might as well have been at home! Loved the pictures of all the soliders lined up outside the football match - impressive if a little scary!
Today the sun is shining in the UK - well, it is here in Southampton :o) Having a quiet day as Simon is off seeing his kids (Father's Day), Ellen is with a friend and Jack is out WORKING! Did I mention this already? Can't remember if I did but, anyhow, he's working at the Bealieu Motor Museum in the restaurant. He started there yesterday on a 9-hour shift and the way he was complaining when he'd finished you'd think he'd worked 9 weeks with not a day off - not 9 HOURS! He's back there again today so I'm expecting grumpiness later on! Still, he's off to his Dad's later for a Daddy's Day meal so I won't have to suffer too much.
I haven't heard about the job I applied for but still hopeful.
Have you actually had any 'real' appointments or are you still training/networking? Is it starting to feel a bit like 'home' at all - or all still too strange to feel that way?
I'm off now so Ellen and her friend can 'audition' their song to me ... I'm such a good judge of singing .. talking of which, have you done any karaoke yet? Aren't the Chinese (in)famous for that? Or is that the Japanese?!
Not sure.
Take care of yourselves
Much love

Tracy/Andy, I've just had a thought - do you have mobiles with internet access out there now? If so you should download the 'What;s App' app - it basically sends your texts through the internet so that they are free, its great (I have a friend in Holland and we use it all the time to text each other).

Let me know if you can get it!

A belated happy birthday andy! Thank you for my text and hope you got mine. Let's hope we can celebrate in HK next year! Have had a lovely weekend. Got a bike and we took the girls to the disused railway line at west meon.....we got as far as Exton so managed 8 miles and a lovely lunch for fathers day....sounds like you had a great weekend. Enjoy the short week. Xxxx

Hi all,
Ta for all the comments, love hearing from you all.
Lorraine - no appointments yet, but the boss has e-mailed a contact tonight who's come from the website enquiry link, so good he's felt confident enough to send it through to make contact!! Bit more training first. It does feel like home in fact, like yesterday walking back from badminton felt quite normal & like we lived here (lthough that may not be normal for everyone!!). No karaoke yet, but need to find some before sis visits ;) It is the Japanese that are big on it too, and funny - last time I was here our guide said that was one of the main forms of entertainment, although now a lot of the locals are in the bars drinking, but there are the karaoke bars around too I think. Hope the Fathers day stuff went ok & that a certain person wasn't too tired & grumpy after work!!!!

Kate - great app, annoyingly we can't download it here, like may things it pops up with 'not supported in your country' grrrrr.......!!!!! Sounds a good one though. Ta for your messages too.

Rach, lovel to hear from you - glad you've been catching up on it all!!! Hope Lau is ok, not long to go now...... how exciting!!
