A few days in the National Park, what can I say.....it was awesome, breathtaking, stunning and blummin cold and oh yes it snowed, like I have never seen snow before, even the time we got snowed in, in the Lake District! I had bought myself a woolen hat and gloves in Chinatown, add that to my newly acquired boots and I was set.

I stayed in a wooden lodge with a wood burning stove, lush big sofa's, surrounded by the forest with raging rivers, a spa, sauna and "hot" hot tub. On my way into the park I saw a kingfisher and plenty of birds of prey. The smell of the trees was just fantastic.

I was on a bus trip with one other person so it was a bit of a very personal service, we had to put on snow chains on the vehicle, though one broke, we got stuck in the snow and had to be rescued (all quite exciting), another time we span out of control, the snow at parts was up to my knees, buildings were beginning to get snowed in but the park remained open apart from some really high parts.

We saw someone get arrested - think it was for not having snow chains on his vehicle, you definately needed them.

One of the snow ploughs caught a metal rod in its plough so had to be rescued.

On our way back to the city we nearly had an accident on the freeway as a lorry pulled out in front of us and luckly our driver just managed to swerve out of the way!

In the lodge I stayed in a dorm with 12 beds and I was the only one in it! Though during the night I could hear noises and wondered if a bear was coming in to get me as the lodge door didnt lock, doh!!! Had to have two blankets on me as it was so so cold, and my body was in complete shock.

So all in all a pretty great trip! :-)

Lots of love Tracey xxx
