I thought I'd take a break from looking at rocks (might look at some more later) and today headed to Taos, New Mexico. It was me, Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach and the open road all day (Dionne and Burt keep me calm and make me happy, so camp, so delightful).
The scenery had plenty of similar rock formations to those I'd seen from the highways on previous days, coupled with a whole lot of nothing, grand!
I also went through parts of Sante Fe National Forest, where I suspect it's huntin' season as I saw a few guys at stops along the way in rather tacky camouflage designed paint ball style outfits, very sexy, NOT
I found one place too irresistible not to stop and take a photo and that was a place called Abiquiu Dam. In the middle of all this desert with nothing but rock around the sight of a large body of water makes you pull the car over. I've also popped in a pic of Lake Powell that I took yesterday in Page, Arizona.
I would have loved to stop and take a pic of a highway sign but there was no-where to pull up. It said "please do not drive and drive", so polite "please" wow at home we're just "bloody idiots", gotta love the bluntness of Aussie's.
Alissa I have to send a huge thanks for the tip on Taos out to you. What a gorgeous place, I love it. I've only had a quick look around as I got in late today, can't wait to investigate it more tomorrow. Popped in a pic of my lovely B&B, complete with fantastic fire place, hope it gets cold enough to get a fire going. What a great choice lovely A, thanks for recommending it. I know you mentioned I could pick you up some jewellery while I was here, but I've been here long enough to know that that's not happening, perhaps an imitation piece ;)
