From Savannah we headed South for 2 1/2 hours to Jacksonville Beach, one of many sandy beaches along the Florida coastline!

On Wednesday the people we were staying with said we could borrow their bikes - which were like Choppers - really big handle bars & low seats! The breaking system was somewhat different - pedaling backwards to stop, or my style was more equivalent to that of the roadrunner - digging my heels into the ground whilst trying not to fall off!
We rode the bikes from their house, down to the beach and along the beach bike-way' down to Atlantic Beach and beyond!
After quite a few miles, we stopped for a rest, so dragged the bikes onto the sand and sat on the beach for a while! We continued on our ride, by that time the tide had gone out far enough for us to ride along the sand.

On Thursday we continued our journey South - heading for St. Augustine before continuing on our journey to Deltona. We visited the Fort and decided to eat our picnic just by the Fort overlooking the sea. We were interrupted whilst eating our lunch by a film crew! They were filming 'Ghost Hunters' and kindly asked us to move to allow them to get some good shots of the fort. We continued our picnic elsewhere whilst watching the presenter practice his lines!
We wandered around St. Augustine for a while & headed to the famous 'Fountain of Youth' later in the afternoon. We got there and would have only had around 1/2 hour to explore the park & drink from the famous spring, so we decided to give it a miss. Looks like I'll just have to hope that anti-wrinkle cream works!!

We continued on our journey South to Deltona, arriving around 7pm at our next destination!
