Welcome to my blog - called the World Peace Tour. The name comes from my own name, Tom Peace. I started traveling in my junior year of high school when I spent my junior year in Barcelona, Spain in a foreign study program. While college and career development would keep me State-side for the next 10 years, the desire to hit the road always burned within and dictated career choices that allowed me to experience life in all regions of the continental US.

Eventually, finances, schedule, and professional opportunities aligned to allow me to resume traveling abroad. I've been fortunate to travel to all continents but Antarctica and to work on four (albeit sometimes only briefly).

Traveling around the world is about going places - getting there and getting back. If you do a lot of it you better become savvy about navigating taxis, subways, trains, buses, boats, bicycles, and planes. It's a survival skill in a very real sense.

Trips are typically planned to visit some place specific, to attend an event, or to visit with someone. Often the journey is seen as a chore, a necessary unpleasantness that must be tolerated as karma payment for the reward of the visit.

But often, the most interesting moments happen during the journey, partly because anything that happens during the traveling is a bonus that can't be planned. The serendipitous surprise simply adds a spice or an exclamation point that our memories can quickly key in on.

The following verbal ramblings are some of my favorite memories from my world travels. Hope you like them!
