Sunday, as if walking for 7+ hours in Paris wasn't enough exercise for one weekend, we rented bicycles and rode 22 kilometers to Villandry to visit the beautiful 16th century castle and its gardens.

Along the way, we passed fields of poppies, rivers and creeks, families out fishing and walking the trails, etc. It was truly the second beautiful day we've had here and we certainly made the most of it.

The girls had fun singing on the way, getting many thumbs ups and other encouragement in our cycling and singing endeavors.

Once at the castle, we locked up the bikes and toured the gardens, walking the lower Renaissance gardens, meant for admiring, and then we walked the reflecting pool and minimilast upper gardens, meant to inspire inward reflection and interior journeys.

At last, we were rewarded with flower-flavored ice cream and crepes before biking back to Tours. The way back was much easier since we knew the way, whereas the journey to Villandry, with poorly marked trails leading out of the city,  was a bit of a challenge!
