I've been without Internet for a few days, but have had many adventures. From Boulder, we travelled to Crawford, Nebraska, to a place called the High Plains Homestead. Our aim was to fossil hunt there, as our vet had recommended it to us for that. Lacking guidance, however, we found no fossils, but enjoyed climbing up and down the muddy canyons, gathering wild sage, and watching the tall grasses shimmer for distances large as an ocean. I like the people and accommodates at High Plains, but the sulfur scent of the water is so strong, I couldn't bear to be in the room when the shower was running. So I was glad to move on to a campsite.

From there we went to the Wild Horse Sanctuary in Hot Springs, South Dakota. We stayed in an inn that night,as we hadn't made it to the campgrounds in time. And we were glad. The Flatiron Inn in Hotsprings is wonderful for many reasons Another Emissary

. It serves good food, is jam packed with well-made handcrafted architectural features, and the rooms are huge. There is an ample back yard where music is performed on weekends.

In that area, we visited the Wild Horse Sanctuary and the Mammoth Site. If you head that way, see both.

We camped for two nights in Custer State Park then and visited Mt.Rushmore, as well as some traditional Black Hills roadside attractions, such as Reptile Gardens and Wall Drug. I cannot recommend Wall Drug. Its very commercial and kind of junky. Even Adrian was unimpressed.

Now we are in Minneapolis. And just in time for the State Fair, as well as my 30 Year high school reunion!
