I stopped off in Khartoum for about 2 hours... The airport looks clean, but from the air everything looks brown and of dirt... I met a few Chinese businessmen going to Khartoum and they seemed like they were busy and eager to do business.
From what I've heard, Sudan is supposedly a friendly and pleasant place to visit. Sadly, getting a Visa into the country is difficult and if you haven't heard anything within 2 weeks, you are most likely not getting in, so they aren't very nice about letting you know. I guess that's another way of saying no.
I also saw tons of UN peacekeepers on my flight in so I imagine there is still a lot of effort to remedy the issues in the Darfur region.
I hope I can go back and spend some time there wandering around.
