At 3:30am on 27th December, Roman arrived at the apartment to help us with our suitcases and pick up the apartment key. The van driver arrvied at 3:45 and drove us to the Airport.
Checking in went smoothly, with all of our large bags being accepted without a fine.
Be carefull when departing at the Almaty Airport, after our van stopped a man came up to us with a trolley and started loading our bags on to it. He pushed them through to the X-ray scanner at the entrance and then demanded $60, I only had $40 on me
We thought that once we were in the airport terminal we would be safe from the -22 C temperature outside. Unfortunately they loaded the aircraft on the tarmac and we had to stand outside for about 15minutes waiting to get on the flight. Once some of the other passengers realised that we had young children they let us get on.
Our one day in Incheon, South Korea, was great, with some shopping and some more Korean BBQ. South Korea seems like a really nice country and we would like to go back there.
The 10hr flight to Sydney on Asiana was comfortable and we managed to fit all of our luggage in to the large sedan that we had hired.
Lily and Heath are happy to be home safely, despite finding the 33 C a bit warm!
Many thanks to all of the people in Kazakhstan and Korea that helped make our journey possible, especially the Kazakhstan embassy in Seoul, Oxiana travel, Yelena (the apartment owner), and all the people who agreed to help Tory with her studies.
