We arrived at the Hutton house at 9:30pm. Scott and Rachel had expected us for already a long time, but since our GPS did not know that the freeway had no exits anymore, it took us a lot more kilometers then expected before we found the right spot.
I did not know Scott in real life, and still it was like meeting an old friend. Everything was already said in the past, so the first steps in the 'getting acquaintance' had already taken place a long long time ago.
The plan was to drive to the floating cabin the next morning, stay there for 2,5 days and go to dinner for the last night.
The cabin was just wonderfull. A place you can not reach any other way then by boat. Things you can and did do over there : read a book, go kayaking and prawning, catch some crab, make dinner, play cards, gaze at the stars, have a nice conversation at the camp fire... Just lovely.
The closest entry point to get there by car was Toquord Bay, and this was still 30 minutes away with a boat. The broken island group is really a fabulous place to stay. Especially since there are no more of those floating cabins allowed. This makes it a very special spot. Scott and Rachel are fortunate to own a part of one.
The last evening we went to an English pub for dinner : the Crow and Gate pub in Nainaimo. It was all yummie.
