Day 6 - Howdee partners...welcome to Fortworth, Texas. Checked out of the Hotel Shelley and said goodbye to Miami. Had a nice smooth flight - steady all the way - smashing! Arrived in just over 2 hours and once leaving the airport were soon to realize just how spread out this state was. It felt an age getting to our nice Comfort Inn (with free Internet and a Premiership Footy Channel!), just outside Fortworth itself.

However, we had a problem on arrival - its was Thanksgiving Day. This basically is as big to the Americans as Christmas Day is too us. We were both starving and were told we would have little chance getting anything to eat! Got in to a taxi with a 'Boss Hogg' look alike and all he was banging on about was how big his Thanksgiving meal was going to be - great cheers drive! He then found the only place open in town a 5 star hotel serving 'all you could eat' meal - we had struck gold! However myself and Nick rolled in Jeans and T-shirts to find the locals dressed up to the nines!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Still we sipped our free champagne and had a great time - felt like Chas n Dave in the East End.

After that watched the new Bond Film (very good!) and were about to head home, when the old Norman radar kicked and noticed a bar actually open. Praise the Lord! $2 a pint, cheap pool, sexy barmaids and sport on the TV. Being the token Englishman - the ladies were soon lapping it up! Had an awesome night and meet some really cool people.

Day 7 - Now this was to be Wild West Day! The main 'cowboy' place was called the Stockyards. This was the main cattle drive in the area for over 100 years until the 1970's. We had walked into a scene from Bonanza! Cobbled streets, Saloons, mock cowboy gun-fights and cattle drives.

Even had our photos taken on a huge bull, which didn't take kindly to Nick - nearly knocking him off with his horns! Purchase a cowboy hat - queue set comedy photos :-)

It has too be said the average Texan doesn't enjoy the most healthy of diets, the nearest they get to healthy eating is a Steak Salad! So Nick and I were obliged to join in! Traditonal food and mixing with the yolkels - classic!

We had a cool night that evening going to 'Billy Bob's Rodeo'! A 6,000 capacity venue, with live country music, tonight was Kevin Fowler (no relation to Pauline I don't think!), he was kind of their Robbie Williams. He drew cowgirls from all parts, it was a comical experience to say the least! The place also had a live bull riding show. This was insane! These guys leave these bulls in a pen for the whole day, then tie a rope round the 'old privates' and let them loose, with cowboy nutcase riding! Really good fun to watch, but you would not of caught either of us doing it!

I guess you can sum up Fortworth as straight out 'Dukes of Hazard'. Everyone was in cowboy hats and boots, line dancing, Jessica Simpson lookalikes and mean looking cowboys! As you can imagine Nick and I might as well of had our England tops on! Fortworth though was 3 times more friendly than Miami, great people and really good experience. The yolkels loved us - yeee - hahh.
