It was up early for our jaunt around the tops of ancient Karri tree's (Eucalyptus Diversicolour if you want the latin name). Based in Walpole, just east of Denmark (yes there is a town called Denmark over here) the local tourist board set up a tree top walk through these magnificent trees. The reason being is that Eucalyptus trees need soft ground to grow in. With people tramping on the ground near the old park, it compacted the soil and therefore was killing the trees off. To combat this a walkway,40metres above ground, was built giving views along the tree tops and also stopping people compacting the soil. Due to the rains we had to be a little careful on the metal walkway due to slippage. With this in mind me and Tom decided to surf. Just like in the old days at school on black ice, where you take a good run up and slide until you fall over or run out of ice, we were doing this 40metres above the ground. Fortunately there were very few visitors there so we didn't get in anyones way, and yes it was childish, but it was great fun.

Due to time, we pressed on to Denmark, not the country, but a little town. To be honest there wasn't a lot going off at the time so we picked up a bit of shopping, had a little walk around to stretch the old legs, and then headed down to elephant rocks. These things, from a distance did look like elephants ( bet that must be where they got their name from, no flies on us!). Tom once again gathered all the e-numbers he could possibly muster and jumped around on every rock, running up and down the hillside in order to take pictures.

We drove to Albany next, but as it was a little late in the day, I became the Skipper and Carol, Sarah, and Tom enjoyed a few glasses of the local vino. We went to Wignalls winery first of all, where they have an award winning Pinot Noir, however me and Sarah enjoyed the Cabernet Merlot. Carol's preference was any of the wines that gentleman serving her gave her to taste! We then went on to Montgomery Hill but alas they weren't up to standard. Enough for the day, we went to the camp site ready for the following day.
