We'd talked about presents for Sarah's birthday and she decided that she didn't want anything, and that we'd take a trip out to Darling Harbour for drinks and she'd be happy. Little did she know.....
Whilst she was out at work, I got up and the first stop was to get her a birthday cake. I picked up a nice little number from Michelle's, a fine bakery if ever there was one. The cake was taken to Catherine's house and from there I went home. Decorations were put up in the house, balloons and banners, ready for when she got home. I picked up a little present of a box of Lindt chocolates so she had a little something to open on her birthday.
She came in from work, a little shocked with the decorations, and would have cried if Tom wasn't in the house. We got ready and went to Darling Harbour, as planned, however, what Sarah didn't know was that I had arranged a meal at Casa Asturiana, a place we had eaten in with Dom and Martine. I had to stall at Darling Harbour as not everyone had turned up at the restaurant. Carol, Tom, Nic and Rob went, Catherine, Becky, his sister who had just flown in, and also Bonnie had been told to get there for 7.30. At 7.45 Carol sent the text message Go, Go, Go!
to let me know everyone had turned up. Sarah was a little shocked when she walked in to find everyone there. We had a wonderful meal of lamb, desert, then the lights were dimmed for the birthday cake entrance and we all sang happy birthday. If we couldn't be at home for the birthday, at least we were with friends and had a good time. I even tried to get her mum to call at the time we had sat down for dinner, but someone got the timing wrong and nearly blew the whole thing as they called an hour early.........no names.........but luckly it all went without a hitch. We then went onto the 3 monkeys for a few drinks before Sarah called home to conclude what was an enjoyable birthday, half way around the world.
Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Sarah, happy birthday to you!
