Blue Mountains part 2.
Trip Start Oct 04, 2004
96Trip End Oct 02, 2005
Off we went to the blue mountains again, but this time with Laura and Fran in tow. We firstly went to Wentworth Falls (when this time the waterfall was actually flowing), and then made the decision to go onto the Jenolan Caves rather than the more nearer attractions. Overall, from Sydney, its about 300km to get to the caves. We had to negotiate a very narrow windy road in a Hyundai (not good) to get down to the entrance of the caves, a massive hollow in the hillside which also housed the entrance to the caves. We picked the Imperial cave, which would take us an hour to get around. There were some great natural formations in the cave, however you can see the same type of thing over in Castleton back home. We were kept amused by a family who seemed to have just turned up from the late 60's with Kids named zues and blanket (whatever they were)

It was up and off to go and see the main "touristy things" in the BLue Mountains today. We started off at Govetts Leap, a large canyon of rolling hills with the distinctive blue hue that you get in the mountains, and then drove over to Everetts Lookout. It was then onto Katoomba, back to the 3 sisters but this time with a difference. Laura had heard off a friend that a walk down the side of the 3 sisters is a must. So we did it. 900 steps down the steepest incline you can imagine, the Giants Stairway. People were walking up them (fools), but going down was hard going. By the time we got to the bottom, all our legs were ready to give way, and were shaking with every step we took. We walked along the federal pass back along to scenic world. We walked through some wonderful forest, and ended up at one point at the bottom of Katoomba Falls waterfall. We made our way to scenic world where we took the railway back up to the top. We went down the railway the last time we came here with Dom and Martine, but going up it was a hel of a lot more daunting. We left Laura nd Fran to do the Skyway there, and me and Sarah went back to get the car. We caught a bus into the town of Katoomba, and then had to wait to get a cab back to echo point to pick the car up
We got the car, picked up Laura and Fran and went back to Sydney. On the way we called off at the olympic park, where Sarah and Laura had a dodgy photo next to a post with a bloke in it wearing a pair of bondi trunks, and then we went off home. That night, being Laura and Frans last in Sydney with us, we ended it with drinks in Darling Harbour. It's been great to see them and we've enjoyed every minute of the time they were here. We'll be meeting up in Melbourne with them next weekend, so it won't be the last we see of them.
