"Australia Day. Celebrate what's great.
Australia Day, January 26, is the biggest day of celebration in the country and is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories.
On Australia Day we come together as a nation celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation.
It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future."
The above is the official line about Australia Day at least. Basically its a day off work, lots of drinking, lots of free stuff, people being granted citizenship, and another excuse for the Aussies to show off how good they are at fireworks and put the rest of the world to shame. Unfortunately we couldnt experience much of this as Sarah wasn't well and was suffering from a viral infection. We spent the day watching America's Next Top Modelaton on tv. It was good to watch the lades cry when they didnt get to the next round, but other than that it was punishment for 8 hours. We did venture out later on in time for the fireworks, but we had to make our way home as Sarah was just not feeling well at all. We watched the display from a distance in Tumbalong park, before heading back home.
28th January 2005
We went with Gary and Dawn up to Palm Beach to see the Home and Away set. If you look close enough you can still see Alf Roberts name on the Summer Bay Life Saving Club sign. We had a walk along the beach, took our picture with a surfboard and had a nice relaxing day. The reason we had to go is because Dawn had accidently left her camera on a bus with all her pictures on, this literally a few days before they were due to go home, so they had spent the last 2 days getting photos of all the things they had on the other camera........
30th January 2005
Gary and Dawn left for the Uk today, and its now time to knuckle down and start to work instead of live the life of riley.
