The 16th of December was the night we were waiting for. Carols in the Domain. There are things that Sydney does do right and that is outdoor concerts. Each year they put on these spectacles and thousands of people turn up for a free concert. We arrived about 7pm and had to sit near the back as people had been camping out all day. We laid the picnic blanket out and sat back to enjoy some old classic, whilst we consumed vast amounts of vino. We had fireworks to accompany the carols, and one of the most un-christmas things we have seen, bats flying overhead to the tune of jingle bells (the bats live in the botanical gardens, big buggers and they fly off around 8pm looking for food). It surely did give the evening its festive touch. No reindeers but lots of bats. After the show we got talking to some local aussies and joined them drinking until 2am. We were the only ones left in the park so we decided to storm the stage that was set up. We were singing and dancing, entertaining a crowd of zero with renditions of christmas songs and build me up buttercup. Some of the choir were still around and came out and joined us for a short time. That was until we got evicted by a lak-lustre securtiy guard who obviously didn't care we were on private property, but he had nothing else to do at 3am so he had to show some willing at his job. It was a bloody good night.
