Time to chill

We woke up freezing but had a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains with a layer of frost over everything. It was a nice crisp morning so we climbed Mt Iron for a 360 degree view of the town, lake and mountains all around. It is a beautiful part of the county - you feel like you are in the middle of mountains miles from anywhere (which is kind of true) and it's a very chilled town so somewhere you can just go to rest and relax but with plenty to do should you feel like it. But after our walk we decided to take it easy and walk some more. This time we walked around the edge of the lake and just sat there for a while reading and enjoying the view. We stayed to watch the sun go down over the lake and then back to the campsite for dinner before heading back into the town for the night. We had a very funky night in Cinema Paradiso which is a small cinema with lots of little sofas, lazeboys and even a car to sit on while we watched Pan's Labyrinth (which we really enjoyed) and ate homemade ice-cream. Then home to bed with plans to get up early the next day for a big mountain walk.
We dragged ourselves out of bed and drove up to Mount Aspiring National Park. The road was mostly a good dirt track and the scenery was spectacular. We drove up a valley filled with a meandering river, fields (navigating a number of herds of sheep and cows), and trees. We had to cross a number of fords but the spaceship did well and before long we had our boots on ready to walk. Shortly after starting we crossed the river on a swing bridge and once again T rocked and Sara shouted but this time it was Sara who rocked the bridge first! We went on up a steep valley, getting colder as we went along and at one point passing a "Do not stop for next 100ms. Rock falls likely" sign. At the top we had a great view of Rob Roy glacier and we stopped for a snack before heading back down. It was a really great walk and lovely cold crisp weather to walk in. Of course we made some soup once we got back to the spaceship to warm us up. The day was rounded off with dinner and a presentation of Breakfast At Tiffany's in the up-market La Casa de Spaceship.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth quite recently too. It's a great film isn't it? That guy with the eyes in his ahnds was excellent! I tried explaining the film to people but they usually get confused: 'So it's a gritty war film, but it's a children's fairytale too?!?'
You sound like you watched it in a more interesting cinema than the QFT though!
