After another fab 4 course lunch we steamed on to our next stop, Neko Harbor - an untouched, pristine bay filled with ice-bergs and glaciers and surrounded by mountains. We landed on a beach in the middle of another penguin colony and climbed a steep and icy snow slope to get a breathtaking view of the bay under pure blue skies and a bright sun. We had made it at last to the Antarctic Continent! After a while of watching the penguins run after each other and slide up and down the hill, and seeing one of the glaciers calving spectacularly we headed back out on the crystal clear waters for a zodiac cruise around the icy bay. We were out for hours, pushing our way through the ice floes and we saw crab-eater seals, porpoising penguins and had a big hunt for Minke Whales. We spotted many at the surface before heading for a big dive, then the search was on again for when they surfaced many minutes later. We cruised all around the bay until sunset when we got back on the ship and watched the sun go down with hot choc and Baileys. A perfect day!
