19/07: After Dr T's patted his Ferby (is a computer game, I know what you were thinking ...), we leave for Port Douglas. Nice views on the way and we also watched paragliding.
We did not book anything. I just vaguely searched the net for cheap accommodation/wireless combination. It IS a long weekend, things might be full. As usual, they lie: no internet let alone wireless and/or much more expensive. We find a hotel with wireless but it is 105$ plus twice 20$ for the wireless. It is also out of town. We drive around and try hard. We found one who lied about the internet but has good rate: 69$ and is on the beach. Nice room but no view. For 30$ more, you have the view too. Good value for money.

Port Douglas is very pleasant. It has less than a 1000 residents but sometimes 4 times as much tourists. The main street is 4 miles long and nice to walk. Dr T finds a pub with wireless. 4$/hour but well: the beer is cold and the terrace cozy. And then, then: he takes me to the Thai restaurant! He must love me a whole lot. I enjoyed it very much. I had to spice up my 'very hot' red curry with 2 serves of Prik Nam Pla. The waiters did not know what I was talking about but luckily the chef did! it was BYO, which is bizarre to me... . Hubby is slightly less happy with his meal.

20/07: Today: Australian food for the Hubby: a decent pie with a pink bun for after. Pink is woozy, right Girls??? And then I lose him in the ice cream bar, where he bought 24h of internet for 15$. I know what that means, so I go exploring the town on my own. The 4 mile strip and there is a big, nice market on the beach on Sunday morning. I almost buy a hat and shorts of me, a box for the girls, a t-shirt for my niece but end up with a newspaper. When I finally get Dr T from behind his computer, it is time for dinner, we go to an Irish pub for ribs and bangers and mash. Tomorrow: bi Port Douglas, hello: Cape Tribulation.
