When we arrive at the dive shop, Steve has news for us: we are going to the jelly fish lake, after our 2 dives. For me, 2 dives a day is enough. And we made it clear, we did not want to go to jelly fish lake. It gets worse: one does not dive there; one snorkels. Wait a minute: I hate jelly fish and I hate snorkeling and we need to pay 70 bucks extra for that? They can also dump us on a beach and pick us up an hour or 2 later. No, we cannot be brought back home. Hubby is still asleep, so I need to take action. We skip diving today and go for a ... helicopter ride! Poor Tomcat has to dismantle all equipment on board. Bob was so nice to offer us his camera, if we wanted to go on the helicopter ride. Unfortunately, there is often a difference between what people say and what they do. Not with Bob. He gives us his expensive Nikon and goes diving. We go back home, I call the helicopter company and they will pick us up within an hour.
It is a gorgeous day. We meet Matt, our pilot: bl..dy Australian. And: there we go. Matt: where is my door and where are your shoes. No worries, mate. The ride takes my breath away and tears to my eyes. The brochure says: 10-15 minutes for 75$. We fly more than 20 minutes. IF you go to Palau: you HAVE to do this.
I stay jumpy all day. Bob needs his camera back, tomorrow: he is leaving and we have 3 days of diving left.
