Then, the wild drive starts. We are not overtaken once. We DO overtake all the time, while blowing the horn. I spend half of the drive with my eyes closed. Let me repeat myself: do NOT drive yourself here. Cars are coming from the other side, on your lane, all the time. If you would do the 150 km yourself, overtaking would be life dangerous and you would spend 6 hours over it because you cannot drive like them. Nor do you want to. I want to yell 'stop' all the time because I see something nice but we only stop once: to get money.
Our flyer says we go to Menjangan. Menjangan is in fact the island between Bali and Java. The island and the mainland is the Bali Barat National Park. Menjangan means deer, which are on the island
Our room
. It also has the best dive site of the west. So, we arrive at Mimpi, the Japanese resort, in the middle of nowhere! There is not even a village around. We have full board (there was no choice) for which we are happy: there is no choice where to eat. The resort is enormous, with 2 huge swimming pools, hot springs, big green gardens, ponds. Hundreds of trees and thousands of flowers and ... empty! Or almost. Maybe 20 guest, maximum. We have diner right next to the sea. We find the Californians who recommended this place. They come and sit at our table after dinner. It is the second time that we see those people and we already hear several stories twice. They do not stop talking. Not ONE bit interested in asking a question or listening. I doubt they know our nationality. She works in a travel agency and says she surfs a lot for herself. Not for costumers, she does not have the patience for that. Her own words! You cannot ask which agency (we would like to avoid a mentality like that) since you cannot put a word in between. He is not better. I do not think I EVER met such an egocentric people in my life. Luckily, they are leaving tomorrow. I do not want to spend a whole day with them during a diving trip.
Speaking of which: appointment at 9, to leave for our first 2 dives. Back at 15h. We can chose lunch: exceptional! We spend our surface interval on the island, having lunch and come back to the hotel after the 2nd dive.
Today: new hotel, tomorrow: new diving sites!
