We have to drive 300 km today. The roads will not be that good, so minimum 4 hours drive.

Dr T booked us a 'lodge':

There is very little choice around the Dunes and it IS high season, so we consider ourselves lucky to find ANYTHING.

The road signs are funny, sometimes.

It is deserted. A dead horse is lying at the side of the road. It gets dryer and dryer. Huge birds' nests in the threes. And no, this is not a giant bird but all little birds making a home for their eggs.

This time it is Dr T who wild pees. He tries to write our names. While we did not see a living sould for hours, at that moment a whole bunch of motor bikers drives by. I would not want to bike here. The dust of another vehicle stays in the air for minutes. the views change often. Ann would say: het landskap is mooi. Our car is covered by a layer of dust when we arrive at our destination, more than 5 hours after departure. The lodge is primitive: no A/C and what turns out to be the crappiest shower we ever saw. The city did not steal its name: Solitiare. My day is spoiled by children though: 12 screeeeaaaaming their heads off in the pool. The dinner is form 19h till 21h and I reckon, if we go late, those kids will be in bed. Think again. The 'horror' family is going to dinner, when we are ready at 20h30. I just do not spend my money on it. It will spoil my appetite. So I stay in the swimming pool, while hubby goes for a meal. I can hear them crying, shouting and screaming from the swimming pool: sigh. And no, there is no escaping, no other restaurant in 70 km.

Well, tomorrow, what they call the most beautiful dunes in the world.
