Welcome to Zulu Kingdom

We have to adjust our plans to the weather: it is still pouring. The girls have breakfast while the boy sleeps. We decide to leave Swaziland, although we saw little of it. We are going to drop by at a lion resort. It IS a bit of a cheat: there are 2 lions there but they are kept in a small resort or a giant cage.

When we stop in Swaziland to take a picture of the 'huts', children come from nowhere, begging. They almost start fighting, when the equivalent of 10 Eurocents are given. People are really very poor here and desperate ... .

Dr T finds a friendly beetle again, in the resort. We visit the snake part first. Ann keeps her distance: she hates snakes. We see the Black Mamba: behind glass, since it is the most poisonous snake in the country. One bite paralyzes you within a quarter of an hour and kills you within 3 to 15 hours; nice guy ... . The rattle snake is not recommended either.

The friendly guy, we are holding is not poisonous at all: he is very huggy.

The poor owl is NOT snake food: he broke his wing and is in hospital.

We are about to visit the lions, when it starts pouring again, so we decide on a beer, a snack and liar dice, of course.

And then, there is the lion. He comes running. His name is Lucky, he is 3 years old and waits for his girlfriend to arrive in 2 months. The lions get fed once a week: a quarter of a cow. Although he rubs against the fence, nobody ever goes into his resort: he is not that friendly. Ann is thrilled: the lions are her animals.

Beautiful little yellow birds are making nests everywhere.

While we leave, the ward hog gets fed. His mum died when he was 3 weeks old, now he is 3 months and slowly has to learn to eat on his own.

Hubby and I are sitting in the back of the car, having our apero, while Greta drives. Tony and Greta take turns in driving. Ann cannot drive with her broken ankle and my knee is still very sore.

We enter the kingdom of Zulu or KwaZulu-Natal, the province, south or Swaziland. Ann found http://www.hluhluwehotel.co.za/live/index.php hotel in Hluhluwe. That is the place, which saved the white rhino, as early as the 1900, when there were only 20 left in the world, All here. Nowadays there are 6000. Today, they have another rhino project for the black one: only 1550 left from the 14000 in previous times. A quarter of the world population of rhinos lives around Hluhluwe. We will visit them tomorrow.

We find the hotel easily and are very pleased with our rooms. We book 2 nights and decide to rearrange the rooms to play cards. We go for diner in the hotel, which is a gorgeous buffet. Unfortunately, Ann gets sick before the meal and refuses to put the blame on the chocolate chip cookies she ate.

Pedarly, where is the mention of me winning all the card games? How about when I saved everyone from the lion attack? I think some of this material has been upgraded for wide consumption. There are whole pieces missing such as when you demonstrated how Tony w
