... and I heard they do not like Australians.

I get up at 8h30 and hubby murmurs: 'are we going diving?' I tell him it is too late. The diving itself normally starts at 9, pick-up at 8h30. I give him his energy drink, prepare coffee and take him to breakfast. Afterwards he sends me off: 'woman: go and inquire for diving in this place AND whether we can do the 'sting ray city dive' this afternoon. '

I come back with lunch and info.  Luckily our hotel's diving is the cheapest and we book for this afternoon and the coming 3 days: 2 dives per day.

Sting ray city. Yes, the sting rays, who killed Steve Irwin. We sail there (look at Dr T's catamaran, sailing out of the harbor) and dive to maximum 4 meters. The dive master brought squid in a plastic bottle. I do not know why it is allowed, normally you cannot feed the fish.

In 1 minute: 7 stingrays are around us. We can touch them. Only at the bottom. They feel like fine velvet. Hubby starts. He is WRAPPED in huge string rays. Some of them almost our size. No kidding, he is sitting on his knees and I cannot see him. He is one sting ray. Scary!
Then, he gives the bottle to me. They have a HUGE mouth at the bottom and suck up the squid. It is fun. Till one bites me. Hard. No kidding. Look at it.. And it turns black and blue afterwards. Despite the fact I AM a bit put off, this is unique. These are the best pictures I could find and it does not show how it is.

The only divers with us is a fat boy (10 years), doing his first official dive and his dad. OK, being NOT a children fan, I thought: fuck. But the kid turns out to be great. Very brave while diving. And tells all kind of stories afterwards. How much his mother nags (he calls it 'gossips') about him diving. 'No wonder those guys split up' is his comment. Wise kid!
We go back to the hotel, rinse of the salt and walk to the supermarket. We shop for diner. And this time Tomcat does eat: freshly baked garlic bread, fruit, lettuce, witloof, chook, ...:

'Home made' meal: priceless!!!
